One day after winning four events at the Madison County girls track meet at Edwardsville, Alton senior LaJarvia Brown lightened her workload a bit Friday at the Collinsville Invitational.

Brown sat out the long jump and 300-meter hurdles. But the Texas A&M recruit and two-time Class 3A state champion in the triple jump won three events to lead the Redbirds to a runner-up finish in the 10-team meet at Collinsville.

Brown won the triple jump at 39 feet, 10 inches, and took to the track to win the 100 hurdles in 14.46 seconds and the 200 meters in 25.45. Brown plans to compete in four events – the triple and long jumps and both hurdles races – at state later in May.

O’Fallon won the team title with 154 points. Alton was second at 104.5 points, with Edwardsville (103.5), Hazelwood East (64), Chatham Glenwood (63.5), Belleville West (59.5), Triad (59), Belleville East (53), Collinsville (33) and Columbia (6) completing the field.

Alton also got a first-place finish from freshman Cri-shonna Hickman, who cleared 5-4 to win the high jump. Hickman was second in long jump at 15-11.

Edwardsville had one first-place effort, with the Tigers 4×800 relay winning in 9:37.95.

Brown won Madison County titles Thursday in the 100 hurdles at 14.4 and 300 hurdles at 38.68, the long jump at 17-3.5 and triple jump at 39-11. The 100 hurdles time was a meet record, breaking the mark held by Edwardsville’s Kristen Dowell of 14.75 set in 2012. Alton also got a first-place effort from Katie Mans in the high jump at 5-4.

Edwardsville claimed its 16th successive MadCo girls championship with 177 points. Alton was runner-up at 120.
